|
|
Situated in the heart of the known galaxy, Coruscant was the seat of government for the Galactic Republic and the Empire that supplanted it. Over thousands of years of civilization, the planet has been entirely enveloped by cityscapes and urban sprawl. It has seen the rise of civilizations, the fall of tyrants, and more leaders and powerholders than can be recalled in memory.
And it has fallen.
After months of campaigns, battles, victories and defeats, the warfleet of the alien invaders known as the Yuuzhan Vong, led by Warmaster Tsavong Lah, has arrived at the heart of the New Republic. While the battle rages in orbit, billions of citizens panic on the ground. Despite the valiant efforts of Luke Skywalker's new Jedi order, the Republic is defeated, and retreats, abandoning countless sentients on the planet's surface.
The Yuuzhan Vong have come. Coruscant is burning.
And you are alone.

AWESOME! I've long been telling people that NJO would make awesome games...I'm working on an NJO mod for X-Wing, so I'm glad to see this, too.

(1) New screenies later
(2) That's Warmaster Tsavong Lah, Manning.
(3) IMPORTANT NOTE: The top picture is NOT converted to any DF palette yet (sorry, NTK). It'll prolly not look as good once converted.

Oh... How many colors does it use? Photoshop has a utility for minimizing the pallette, by including only the colors that are used... It looks like it could possibly fit into 255 colors... And a little work with it would make the color loss negligable. I still believe you can do something like that, and it would look awesome (for DF, anyway)!

While he looks badass, I don't exactly think that is what Lah looks like, at least not all the other pics of Vong I have seen, look on the cover of some of the novels as well as I have several pictures I could get you from Gamer, I also think he had fringed lips.

It looks great, And I don't think I could make it look that good, but I noticed that the guy does not have fringed lips, which I thought was gool n the book, and his skin is too pink and smooth, a warmaster, that high up would have tons of tattoos. Other wise, it looks good.

I don't get why DF-21 keeps having trouble with images, mine worked for a while and suddenly stopped showing up on the site. But when I checked to make sure my headers were correct and whether or not my image hosting site was still up, it was all fine. Another thing Scapegoat can fix .

It's OK, though. Just fill out the form and we'll start from scratch.
Apparently, those images were in the tomresnick account Tom originally created. He has not uploaded the files into the new account started "from scratch."
I'm a NJO fan, so this interests me. I think the "New Essential Guide to Characters" pic has got an overall pinkish, purplish hue, giving Lah a pinkish hue. I think Lah's skin should be more greyish, as shown in other pictures of other Yuuzhan Vong. Also, some parts, like the inside of Lah's ears, were kind of fuzzy, airbrushed, while other parts have more crisper lines. The combination made the pic look a little Photoshoped. Blurring some of those crisp edges a little bit might unify the picture. (Don't get me wrong, Tom. I liked the pic.)

A NJO level would be amazingly cool. I'd love to see that!

I'm not quite sure what program(s) he used to do it, though... However, the first picture is a clear sign that he's been practicing artwork like this for years.

Haven't really head of the former, and I know Photoshop is the indispensible basic tool for image editing (as well as pallette cutting).
Personally, I use MSPaint for pixel-by-pixel editing (I'[m well used to this tedious method), then use ACDSee to convert the bitmap to anything I want. After fiddling arround with the combination for while, I've found a way to perfectly convert images, without losing detail (assuming they've only got 256 colors used to start with): I use ACD to convert it to a GIF or 256c BMP, then open it back up in MSPaint, then paste the original image onto the new file; it gets rid of dithering caused by palletting, and ensures that I wind up with proper coloration.

I used to use Super Paint all the time and could get great results, it won't work for my new computer though, it is lost on a pair of floppies.

I use Irfanview to inter-convert my images, I usually am stuck with paint as far as editing goes. (I have the GIMP tho, I gotta get used to using that.)

Paint's pretty godd, if you can get used to having virtually no tools at your disposal for making the image more realistic. It's great for editing an image that slightly resembles what you want, but probably horrible for working from scratch.
