This level is basically an advanced version of the Coruscant level in df (minus Boba Fett). A very difficult level filled with Dark troopers. Very well put together level.

"Very difficult" seems to me an understatement. There are no difficulty settings, only hard. Well, I guess most other players are better than me, but I don't seem to remember getting though without any cheating.

Yeah, I liked this level very much. It seems to have that classic DF feel, where the author paid close to attention to the original Coruscant and created a large scale shooter.

Geoffrey Simpson wrote:
Yeah, it feels exactly like the original Coruscant only way better. It's nice and big, with some of the best architecture ever made in a DF level with only old textures.
The amount of enemies is a bit excessive, but it's possible to finish the level without cheats, but very difficult.

Geoffrey, it's a good thing I don't have to face you or the other young wipersnappers here in a shootout at the OK carrol.

Just remember where the enemies are. If you hide round a corner, and use explosive weapons you can take out groups of stormies or hurt them badly. Just keep using the strafe keys, and pop out from behind walls. When battling DTs, use explosives on the stormies, then circle-strafe around the DT.

An excellent level indeed! I remember when I had started a review section on my website, I had reviewed only a few levels that were my favourite, and included this one because auhtors seldom create levels taking place in Coruscant and Ryan's work was not only refreshing, but also very well done.

The key is to use all available cover. I've found that the AI is better than I think, and using cover and constantly moving when you're in the open keeps you alive much longer than my original tactics, which were more Doom-like: Shoot first.

I'll download it this afternoon and check it out.

I think it's close to impossible to complete without cheats. And I played it for ages without on MED difficulty and wondered round the level wondering why the Imperial Centre was deserted and why I couldn't open some of the doors.

It's fantastically designed but just stupidly difficult. Any chance of a Special Edition...?

Yeah I expericened that as well.
It's just a really difficult version of the original coruscant level. I don't see what's so great about it.

There was a lot I liked about this level, and a lot about it I just downright hated.

The Good: The architecture was a lot better than the original DF version of Coruscant. It gave me a lot of good ideas when I was building Spice Bust on Taloron so it was a great inspirational level for me (Until I played AoNS, that is Wink ). But now that SBoT is in the ER after suffering a major corruption, this level has become less important to me. But still, the architecture was definately the best feature.

The Bad: The plot was too simple and overused. And you can only play it on hard.

The Ugly: When the author says hard, he means HARD. Almost like it should have been given the difficulty impossible-to-complete-without-cheating. There was just too much to worry about. When in one area you believe you've exterminated every troop, you turn around to find another billion troops in the area you were just in. And the DTs didn't work at all in this level.

But for a level that was built using no custom components and all the original default stuff given, I commend the author for not going overboard and making a good DF level with just the basics. It probably would have gotten 5 stars if there had been different difficulty settings and had made the Hard difficulty easier. 6.9 of 10.

In my opinion, this level is a shining example of how good DF can be without stretching its engine.

The arcitecture is splendid. Despite including no custom components whatsoever, this level truly conveys the an adequate feeling of Coruscant, although better could have been done (the level's a little too flat, in my opinion). The level is rather long, and challenging enough. However, I am slightly disapointed that because its only difficulty setting is hard, very few people can enjoy this level without cheating. Also, I don't think the DTs turly fit into the level all that well... They're over-used in general by DF authors. However, I do think this level deserved 5 stars.
