Classic level. Very tough.

Just some random thoughts I kept having while playing:

* I think this is the only briefing told from the second-person viewpoint.

* This level starts off tough, and keeps it tough, even on easy. I'm not a big fan of getting hurt right after loading up (the mine explosion) but at least the author was kind enough to limit the first couple enemies to Gammoreans.

* This was the first level to teach me that punching a Gammorean was a lot more efficient, ammo conserving, and all around smarter thing to do than standing back and shooting them.

* This level just loves to spring traps and ambushes on you. Anybody else get caught on the descending bridge above the first Kell dragon pit? Nowadays I can just hop over it but the first time this gave me a shock. There's also the endless stream of probe droids by your gear, the DT Phase 1's hiding within the pillars, the throne room lockdown, and the wall trap just before the cargo room.

* For a classic level, the architecture can sure rival even theones being produced today. The courtyard in the beginning's a little boxy but everything else had a high amount of detail. Texturing was practically seamless as well.

* Small bit of HOMing in the courtyard, but that's the only mechanical bug I could find.

* The scene in the sewers gets a personal award from me for "most loved & most hated" scene. Most loved because of the atmosphere and thinking that it requires to beat. Most hated because I absolutely, without a doubt, hate fighting Dianogas. *grins*

* For whatever reason the Jawas sometimes look like they're under the floorswhen you fight them. I've also witnesed instances where I shot at them and the bolt seemed to pass through them without harm. I liked their realistic sounds though.

* Favorite Scene: The hallway leading up the cargo room. The lighting there is jaw-dropping.

* Challenge: Can anyone beat this on Hard without losing one life? I can get close, but everytime I'm too banged up by the end, and Boba takes me down, forcing me to respawn and kick his arse the next time around.

No matter how high the bar is raised in DF levels, I have a feeling that this one will always be considered one of the great ones simply for its challenge, design, and replay value.

I agree with Emambu, the architecture in this is very realistic. I was just so glad that the author was careful enough to make a level that can live up to a ballsy title like "Boba Fett's Revenge".

I've been a Gammorean punchin' fool for years now. I dare you to try it in the trap room in The Dark Tide I, though!

This level was great. The architecture was beautiful and yet not overly frilly, the lighting was nice, the suspense was great, the action was balanced, and yak yak, I'm too tired to go through all its great points. Just know that it's a sweet level that is in my Classic Dark Forces Levels folder (with only about 10 others), and everyone should have it and praise it.

I already said it several times in the past: this is my favourite DF add-on level...

Personally, I avoided this level for a while, mainly because of its title. I thought to myself "Oh... another Boba Fett level... Great..." I couldn't have been more wrong. This level actually works, unlike the many other DF levels that randomly place Boba Fett in them. The story was good, the game play was fantastic, and above all, the architecture and detail is outstanding! Probably some of the best I've seen in an older DF level. There was one little problem I had, and that was when I grabbed the gear, all of the equipment I had went away, including the key to get out of the room, so I ended up getting stuck.

Overall, I really liked this level and found it challenging.

8.1 of 10.

I don't remember this level too well, so I'll have to play it again before reviewing it.

As for your problem, BG, That's a bug in the Mac version. Grabbing the "Your Gear" item, instead of adding everything you had before the level, sets you to having exactly what you had before the level. I don't know why there was never a fix for that.

Pretty much what I would do to get past that was kill all the probe droids, open the door, grab the gear and run like hell before the door closed. It's effective, but very hard to do.
