Although the concept is literally insane, I found out that you can just write VUE files by hand. Although it would take a very long time to make one for 3DO movement, it would be highly effective for ones that require short movements, like moving one object to another area instantaneously (Like purchased items in AoNS). I've tried this with assorted objects and it works.
It's amazing how a lot of DF is text based, you could probably even design a whole level without even having to use an editor.

In fact, weren't some of the first custom levels written in text? Or am I making up DF mythology?

It could be possible, but I'm not so sure. I'm fairly new here, although I can't really call myself a newbie anymore, so I don't know much of the history here.

Is there a way to edit VUE's with Excel? Or does that need a Win only converter?

I have no clue. But that would be cool if it was possible.

alkaline888, did you check my link above? Don Sielke's level "Secret Base II" was the first ever add-on level, and was made with a text editor. I believe it was one of a kind though.
I thought Matt H had done some VUE editing with Excel spreadsheets, but I might be mistaken.

If that's possible, could someone explain how to do that? I have MS Excel on my G4 and that would greatly benefit me.

Wasn't there a skeleton Excel file out there somewhere?
Anyway, you can read the specs and type the calculations into Excel yourself. I think I did that for the barrel rolls in Nervous Breakdown.

Yeah, I normally don't make links like that. I was trying too hard to be clever I guess. Sorry.

There's an excel file and a simplistic "how to" document that is included in the Tie Defender Base .zip file. You should be able to find it somewhere.
At least there was, when I created it 8 years ago ...

Cool! I found that file at the FTP site that Taton mentioned in another topic. This should help a lot. THANKS!!!
Oh, for those of you who want to download it too, you can do so from here just to save you time of having to look for it there (although it only took me 10 seconds).
