|
|
I don't know why, but I updated GOB Viewer for the Mac.
You can grab it here.
The source can be found here. You can do whatever you want with the source, but I'd sure like to have bug fixes sent back to me so I can include them in my tree.
2.0 - 2 October 2003
• Brought the app into the 21st century. It's now carbonized so it runs native under OSX. It has not been tested under MacOS 8 or 9, although it should work in theory on MacOS 8.6 and higher.
• Added support for un-gobbing Jedi Knight 1 GOB and GOO files. Great for depressing yourself into a stupor while examining the resulting data.
• Removed support for 68k Macs, and implemented the scrolling list with the DataBrowser control (necessary for the larger GOB files found in Jedi Knight 1).
• The main window is now resizable.

I can honestly say, if I used a Mac, I would try this.

Wow, Brad, hello!
I just wanted to take the opportunity to say I've worked with DarkForge now for over two years and it's a really great program. Has its share of quirks, but they're very minor next to the huge joy of working with the program. I've spent many long hours with it, and I find that its interface really encourages creativity in a way that the PC level editors don't (they're much more technical in their approach).
So thanks very much! Yours,
Greg Nickles

That's great! It's too bad there isn't a massive library of games availible for the Mac, or else I'd be using them...
::Drools at G5 performance results::
Although I don't see myself primarily using a Mac in the next decade, I'd like to se Id software turn around, and port DOOM3 to the Mac, not the XBox...
(It would run like S*** on the XBox... You don't notice the lower framrate, because consoles/televisions shoot for 30 FPS, not 60...)

Yes!!! Brad Oliver's here!
Any chance of a new DF FME/WAX editor coming out? Or anything else? I love your programs!

Maybe even fix a couple of bugs with Dark Forge ?
It always gives me a weird message that states that there is low memory spec to GOB and saves the LEV file in a different location. I've tried increesing its memory usage, but it doesn't work. Now that you're around, could you possibly tell me what's up? It's annoying me to the point where I want to drop kick my computer.

OK, I couldn't let it go with yesterday's release, so I've revved GOB Viewer to 2.0.1.
The app is here and the source is here.
This is about as far as I'm going to take it.

It does it if the GOB is a little over 1000 sectors. It could be less but I'm not quite sure. That's one of the reasons I stopped working on AT1. The long saving time, and having to manually insert the LEV file.

I really can't do that, unfortunately. I use Hotmail free accounts and only allows me to send up to 1 MB of info. Sorry.
Don' worry about it though. I'll just deal with it.
But out of curiosity, will you be making a new version? One that might be able to make VUE's? That would be REALLY helpful....and I can stop bugging Barry about 'em too.
