Just reading over some of the editing topics and what not, (played all the hall of fame maps) ahhh so good to get back into dark forces.
The Hall of Fame maps where totaly awesome (except assasins kept crashing on me Sad.

ok il stop rambeling on...

Out of all the maps, i am still surprised to not see any new weapons being that are completly new, (not just sound and graphic replacements) things like a double mortar cannon. (just a thought)
Or even moded troopers, say a storm trooper (same health as a storm trooper, yet fires a differnt gun) i know the ai would need to be changed for it to work, but hey, it would be interesting to see a storm trooper try to shoot you down using the Fusion Cutter like a blaster rifle Smile

I know it would require some nasty coding skills but its just one of those things where theres always one crazy person out there who knows how to do it (and tells everyone else how ).
It must be pretty hard or encoded some how?

The more maps the better, unless your like me and cant map Smile

First of all, welcome to DF-21. We're glad to see any new members in this somewhat desolate place.

Yeah, most people have problems with that map... I've never finished it without cheating, because it always crashes inside Prigga's ship.

That's precisely the problem. In DF, you can't change any logics, else we'd have a lot of different weapons and enemies in use. Instead, we're simply stuck with fiddling with the pre-made (and hard-coded) "LOGIC"s, trying to make new things. The best enemy example is the Concussion Commando. The same goes for weapons; we can't change the way they work, though we can change their graphics and sounds.

Yes, it is currently impossible to change those things you mentioned, due to the fact that that data is all compiled into DARK.EXE, and it is impossible (as well as illegal) to accurately de-compile a binary application. Unless LucasArts decides to make the source code for Dark Forces public domain, we're stuck with what we have. But don't get discouraged; you've seen how far such limitations can be stretched, and we're still finding more ways.
