Hey all... Reincarnated again with the original SN.
New project: Shadow Walk. Basically MGS gameplay in DF. Stealthsuits, silenced pistol, the works... Even security cameras (easy as crap to code).
I'm aiming for gameplay reminiscient of MGS, with emphasis on stealth for as much of the game as possible.
Expect lots of duct work and some ridiculously detailed locations.
I'm also going to incorporate weather effects, in the form of snow and haze. I'd like at least one major boss fight (easy enough to say, right?).
My goals are as follows:
1) Stun the crap out of you. Beautiful architecture is my desire.
2) Thrill you. Stealth gameplay, if done right, can be soooo much fun.
3) Build a realistic world. Bathrooms, dormitories, everything. I'm aiming for the most open level possible. If it has a door, it can probably be opened... Eventually.
4) Go where no-one has gone before. A TC based on stealth? I'm actually surprised one was never released. The Stormtrooper AI is perfect for it...

I need the following created:
3DOs:
1x Commanche Helicopter body (angular, no protrusions. EASY to do.)
1x Commanche Rotors (again, EASY to do)
1x Abrams tank body (angular, easy)
1x Abrams tank turret (angular, easy... see a trend?)
1x Security Camera (a box with a mounting post)
VOCs: I will need some voice actors at some point
The current plan calls for two levels, as described below:
Level 1) Shadow Walk: Arctic Chill
-The hero (name undecided) needs to infiltrate a NORAD-esque facility in Antarctica and reach an elevator to the lower levels undetected.
Level 2) Shadow Walk: Day of Thunder
-The hero takes the elevator down to the facility's core and assassinates a commander. Afterwards the hero needs to escape to an egress point near the base.

Nope, Gundam, it's a TC.
Tom, thanks a bunch, you do good stuff.
I'm playing Splinter Cell and MGS, getting lots of ideas...

Hmmm... How ya gonna incorporate stealth?
I toyed with ideas a few times, but I kept being burned by the shear number of sectors I would need. Not to mention code.

Well, it's fairly simple. I'm using a part sector-based approach, part object-based.
I'm not sure how to explain it.
A shorter 'teaser' is being made now to showcase the ideas (and also tone up my skills) that takes place in the standard DF world. It's pretty fun so far.

Hey dude, I have a somewhere between 200 and 600 textures I took from rogue spear a while ago when I was working on a TC, I actully was inspired to make a minilevel but I can send them your way, I probably have quite a bit that will save you alot of time making your own texures.
Let me know if you are interested.
Ohh, and the levels should be great, Swat TC was perhaps the greatist insperation to me to edit, even if I have never put anything out.

Stealth-based? I could see that. I had the idea to put a few stealth elements (very few) in my DF series, though I doubt I'll ever even update the page (I've finished working on the plot for good)... And by security cameras, I'm thinking of 007 GoldenEye... Am I correct? (camera sees you for 3-5 seconds, rings alarm)

More like Splinter Cell - you get sighted, alarms go off, stormies pour out.

Just last night, I came up with a brilliant idea for security cameras. The effect would be a camera (either mounted on the floor, ceiling, or on a wall bracket), that would pass back and forth. If the player entered its field of view, the camera would attempt to track the player for up to 5 seconds, then ring an alarm. If the player went too far from the camera, or arround a corner, they would be safe. Also, I've figured out how to make a camera you could shoot before it has a chance to alert anyone; I prefer this kind of stealth to instant armies, and I'm putting this idea into use in a "small" (less than 1000 sectors) level I've just started building.
