I've been working on the Collision detection, fixing some issues. I've started added Enemy/Droid logics...
Mouse Droids now move around, including changing directions when hitting a wall and their curved trajectories. You can now attack and kill Stormtroopers. I've also tweaked the sprite rendering so sprites no longer look too fat or wide.
Now I'll finish the logics for all the enemies in the first level then move on to INF and goals.
Here are some screenshots, watching MouseDroids move and fighting Stormtroopers.

When I said I was nearing the first alpha demo release, I meant it
Edit - the best way you (and others here) can help is to play the demo when it comes out and give feedback - positive or negative. In the meantime I'll keep putting out updates so you guys can see the progress.

I forgot to mention, they drop the correct item now when they die - in the case of Stormtroopers, they drop energy ammo.

Looking good! looking very good. The Troopers look much better now. As for the mouse bots, they always have looked like a black box with a lil white snap sticking out of it, so i will have to see their motions if and whenever you make it available for DL. A friend of mine was looking through a strategy guide of the DOS X-wing, the back of the book says "New, never before seen Star Wars Graphics." and he said it should say "New way to learn Geometry" LMAO Anyway, idk if you improved the hand eather, but from here i have to look really hard to notice any pixilation, so thats cool too.

I meant they drop the correct ammo in my version. I didn't show it in the screenshots but I do have them dropping the ammo like they do in the original game.

I mentioned the script-based logic system here, near the bottom: http://df-21.net/phpbb/viewtopic.php_t=1187&start=30. Anyway the storm trooper logic and mousebot logic are now running through the script-based logics and working correctly. The storm troopers die, with different animations based on being punched or shot. They leave the ammo and all that just like before.
So I just need to convert the other logics, such as pickups (ammo, health, shields, IR goggles, etc), that already work but will now work through the logic script system.
And in case you missed it, yes shooting works now

Does it do the thing where if you crouch, look upwards and punch, they fly ridiculously high?

No, actually it doesn't. Thanks for bringing that up . These are the kinds of comments I need to get all the little details right. There's always testing, hopefully people will try these things - this is why I wanted to get an alpha out even with only one level - there's alot to test I'm getting closer, as you can see in one of the updates the INF system is going in. Once that's done the level will be beatable.
