Oops, I goofed on that one... I tried extensive testing with player weapons, and found the correct values:

Code:

Weapon--------------Damage
Fists.................4-20
Bryar pistol..........5-10
Stormtrooper Rifle....5-10
Thermal Detonators....1-45
Repeater Rifle..........10
Fusion Cutter........13-15
I.M. Mines............1-90
Mortar Gun............1-75
Concussion Rifle........30
Plasma Cannon...........30
Rockets...............1-81

is your question about using another PLAYER object as the target of the attacks? I have done that, but not for all weapons... I didn't do that with rockets.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Sorry it wasn't more clear.

As far as I can tell, all damage values are universal; the enemy's attacks in DF are the same strength toward each other as they are to you (as evidenced by one trandoshan "accidentially" killing another in two shots).

I think there might be a few oddities with immunities and weaknesses somewhere, what with this slap-dash first-release engine that was never designed to run anything but the original GOB files. The DF Strategy Guide says Kell Dragons take more damage from the front, but I don't take that very seriously. And how much damage exactly does a Phase I DT take when it blocks a pistol shot?

Multiple PLAYER logics might let you measure with better precision.
(Edit: fixed quote blocks.)

There probably are numerous bugs in the operating code...

I'm still unsure about the kell dragons, though. They also seem to take less damage from the fists...

For DT Is, I believe they take 0 damage if they block. Their blocking isn't perfect, thus preventing from getting perfect accuracy on that amount, but it definitely couldn't be more than 2 or 3 points...

My brother (The Amazing Knifeboy) pointed this out to me last night, and Although I haven't tested it yet, this thread could really use a jump-start.

44. When the player is being crushed by a ceiling, the player normally takes shield damage, then health damage if the player runs out of shielding. However, if you try to crouch while being crushed, the shields are ignored entirely, and you take only health damage.

About enemy damage:

I think enemies take damage from anything except their own trown explosives.

Also, melee attacks between the same type of enmies or explosives between types may fail, too.

I'm unsure about that.

Actually, I just tested #44, and it seems that that may be wrong... Although my tests were limited to about 10 lives in the elevator 'o death in Operation Cakewalk...

Also, as far as enemy damage, enemies never take damage from their own explosives, and seem to take reduced damage from each other's melee attacks, but full damage from ranged attacks.

I think this may be due to the different ways enemy logics interact with each other than with PLAYER logics... if an enemy hits another enemy, they may be liable to use, say, the same code as is used for the player's weaponry, but the PLAYER logic responds as if hit by a flat 15-point attack. I'm not sure why this would be true, but...
